Our work on Positive Energy Districts (PED) Design advances the leap from single-block analysis to district-scale performance, where energy demand, microclimate, and urban morphology must be evaluated synergistically. Building on insights from our Ten Questions contribution to the PED-EU-NET COST Action-highlighting gaps in tool interoperability, scale alignment, and early-stage decision support-we develop workflows that optimise initial district form to create a more performant baseline before system-level strategies are added. Recent studies from our lab, including CFD-informed wind-pressure integration and microclimate–energy coupling, demonstrate how district morphology shapes loads, comfort, and solar potential. By consolidating these insights into a multi-criteria, simulation-driven approach, our research offers a rigorous framework for districts with stronger passive performance and clearer PED readiness, equipping designers and policymakers with science-based methods for climate-positive urban development.
